Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited institution or Paralegal Studies Certificate
- Four years prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, and/or filing clerk in a law firm or in-house workplace setting
- Prior experience in managing civil litigation files, transactional files, real estate files, e-filing, and experience in responding to subpoenas and Public Information Act (PIA) or FOIA requests
- Paralegal Studies Certificate or related law office certification
Supplemental Functions
- Familiarity with U.S. federal and state laws, legal pleadings, and the federal and state court system
- Familiarity with e-File systems
- Excellent computer and technology skills and have an advanced understanding of the Microsoft suite of programs including: MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook, and other software such as PACER, Canva, Adobe Acrobat Reader or Pro
- Excellent organization and research skills
- Excellent communication and written and verbal skills
- Able to multitask and prioritize in an often high-volume or fast-paced environment
- Able to maintain efficiency and close attention to detail is essential in this position
- Able to be self-motivated or self-directed, well organized and detail oriented
- Able to communicate effectively with external and internal stakeholders
Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
- Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, plus stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
