Job Summary
Chamberlain Hrdlicka is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its Tax Controversy & Litigation group in the San Antonio office. This position will support attorneys focused on domestic and international tax controversies; as well as federal, state and local tax matters, including income, franchise, and sales taxes. This position requires regular interaction with state and federal taxing authorities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage, organize, and track all client documents for attorney review and analysis
- Manage electronic case materials in eDiscovery database, and prepare document productions
- Prepare and submit court filings and correspondence
- Prepare and file corporate entity formation documents including charter documents, organizational consents, bylaws, company agreements, partnership agreements, obtaining EIN’s and qualification in applicable state jurisdictions
- Record real estate lien documents and search real property records to determine property ownership, easements, and liens
- Calendar deadlines and work with attorneys to ensure timely responses to deadlines
- Professionally communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and firm personnel
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Elevated level of proficiency with technology, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and eDiscovery software/platforms
- Proficiency using file sharing applications (e.g., Dropbox, Box, and E-Share) adhering to department’s established technical procedures for use and dissemination of correspondence and case materials
- Experience managing, coordinating, and tracking the flow of case materials through the litigation process, including reviewing new client documents and preparing document productions
- Experience and ability to work with time-sensitive and overlapping deadlines
- Dependable team player; ability to work productively with personnel at all levels and with minimal supervision
- Self-starter and takes initiative
- Detail oriented with strong work ethic and ability to multi-task (will be supporting several timekeepers)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Punctual and adheres to work schedule, including scheduled in-office days
- Maintains a neat, well-groomed appearance that presents a professional image
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years paralegal experience in a law firm setting
- ABA approved Paralegal Certificate preferred
