Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using online databases and law libraries to support case preparation and consumer protection matters
- Analyze statutes, regulations, and case law related to consumer rights and unfair business practices
- Prepare detailed research memoranda and case summaries for attorney review
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and consumer protection complaints under attorney supervision
- Prepare routine legal correspondence, memoranda, and client communications
- Maintain and organize case files, legal documents, and correspondence in both physical and electronic formats
- Review and summarize complex discovery materials, contracts, and consumer agreements
- Ensure all court filings meet proper formatting requirements and deadlines
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather case information and maintain detailed records of all communications
- Clock case timelines and track critical deadlines across multiple consumer protection cases
- Schedule depositions, court hearings, client meetings, and coordinate calendar management for multiple attorneys
- Assist with trial preparation including exhibit preparation, witness coordination, and trial binders
- Prepare court filings, ensure compliance with court rules, and coordinate service of process
- Manage client billing processes, track billable hours, and prepare accurate invoices
- Assist with document production, including organizing, indexing, and summarizing discovery materials
- Support general office administration and maintain professional client relationships
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm environment
- Proficiency in legal research databases such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar platforms
- Experience with FileVine or other case management software systems
- Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and litigation support software
- Strong typing skills and document formatting abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong proofreading abilities
- Knowledge of federal and state court rules, filing procedures, and legal terminology
- Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Political Science, or related field
- Experience with consumer protection law, debt collection defense, or class action litigation
- Familiarity with federal consumer protection statutes (FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, etc.)
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and litigation support software
- Notary public certification
