Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of assigned attorneys and paralegals to meet firm/client needs.
  • Support litigation process, including discovery, motion practice, hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations.
  • Create legal documents such as petitions, answers, discovery, motions, pre-trial motions, legal memoranda, waivers, memos, case briefs, request medical records, Rule 11 agreements, settlements, and client correspondence.
  • Compile deposition and trial notebooks, conduct client interviews, prepare pleadings, assist with investigations, and stay updated on all discovery phases.
  • Proofread and format all materials accurately.
  • Provide assistance to other paralegals as needed to meet firm/client needs.
  • Organize and prioritize workload to facilitate team efforts towards achieving firm and client goals.
  • Adhere to firm policies, including attendance guidelines, dress code, security measures, and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of plaintiff personal injury litigation, including understanding court practices, requirements, and deadlines in state and federal courts.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases independently and effectively from file to trial.
  • A proactive work ethic, strong decision-making skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging legal environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience, including courtroom trial experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA-approved program (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Position Type

This is a full-time position based in Houston. Competitive compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
