About the role
Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. This adjunct faculty position is available in the discipline of Legal Administration.
Responsibilities
- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline in a classroom/virtual environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
- Create course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Deliver high-quality instruction, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Actively contribute to the academic, professional, and community life of the college.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization, committing to continuous professional growth aligned with the college’s mission and goals.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in the discipline plus two or more years of directly related experience, especially as a paralegal.
- Demonstrate ability to deliver coursework electronically in online environment and utilizing multiple teaching strategies as well as in-person instruction.
- Show a thorough understanding of the varied backgrounds and experiences of student populations and the ability to create a sense of belonging, support, and engagement that considers and values all students in curriculum development and teaching.
- Proficiency in using computers, relevant software applications, and the institution’s learning management system (LMS).
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or higher.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to incorporate technology into instruction.
Special Assignments
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
