About the role

This position involves supporting instruction in a kindergarten classroom under the supervision of a certificated teacher. Duties include assisting with reading, writing, and mathematics instruction, monitoring student progress, supervising restroom use, changing wet or soiled clothes, and assisting with toilet learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students
• Monitor and report student progress
• Supervise the use of restrooms, change wet or soiled clothes, and assist in toilet learning
• Knowledge of basic subjects taught in the District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading
• Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary

Qualifications

• Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education OR demonstrated knowledge and ability through a formal local academic assessment
• Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience working with children in an organized setting. Early childhood education (ECE) units preferred
