Paraeducator - Special Education
About the role
The Auburn School District is hiring a Special Education Paraeducator for a 1:1 and SLC position. The work schedule is 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with 181 work days per year. The starting pay is $28.09 per hour based on the Para 3 rate for the 25-26 school year.
Responsibilities
- Support students with special education needs in individualized settings
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction and supervision in small groups or one-on-one
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress
- Adhere to district policies and procedures related to special education
Requirements
- A copy of high school diploma
- Documentation of one of the following:
- A copy of an official college transcript indicating an AA degree or higher
- 72 quarter or 48 semester credits earned in 100 level and higher courses
- Official documentation of a passing score on Washington State approved assessment

Skills
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Knowledge of special education principles and practices is preferred.
