Paraeducator I; Playground/Supervision

Position Summary

Under the direction of certificated staff, supervises students and implements behavior programs in lunchroom, playground, bus loading/unloading, and classrooms. Outdoor supervision takes place in a variety of weather conditions.

WA State Paraeducator Requirements

• At least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Meet one of the following requirements:
• Receive a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the Paraeducator Board
• Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Earn 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
• Complete an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council

Upon Hire

• Must provide a copy of a High School diploma or HS transcripts, or acceptable equivalent document.
• Must provide Official post secondary transcript(s).

Pay

Wage for Para I: $24.68 - $28.83 per hour (2026-27 PSE Salary Schedule)

Schedule

Monday - Thursday: 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (includes one 15-minute paid break)
Friday: 11:10 a.m. - 1:55 p.m.
Weekly working hours: 16.75

Benefits

• Insurance: This position alone may not be eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, basic life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance unless the assignment, or combination of assignments, are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per year.
• Retirement Plans: This position is eligible for a 403(b) TSA Retirement Savings Plan.
• Paid Holidays: This position is eligible for up to 13 paid holidays per year. The number of holidays depends on employee's start and end dates.
• Paid Time Off: Employees working 12 months per year earn 12 days of paid vacation per school year. Employees working 237 - 260 days per school year earn 12 days of sick leave. Up to 3 days of personal leave may be granted each school year. Vacation, sick leave, and personal leave are based on scheduled hours and position start date.
