Paraeducator (Arthur B. Ingham), Special Education, PC #891

Under the general direction of the Principal, the Paraeducator performs a variety of duties assisting teachers in the overall support of instructional activities for students who are enrolled in special education moderate/severe programs and/or mainstream classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in supporting instructional activities for students in special education moderate/severe programs and mainstream classrooms.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One of the following:
  • Two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units),
  • Possession of an Associate’s or higher degree, or
  • Ability to meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics through a formal State or local academic assessment.
• Prior job-related experience, paid or voluntary, with school-age children or children/individuals with disabilities.
• Possession of an appropriate valid California Driver’s License with evidence of insurability.
• Completion of an approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintenance of valid certification.
• CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment.
• For Program for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing: Ability to pass the MCOE sign language test within six (6) months of employment.
• Required documents: Copy of Transcript, Letter of Introduction, Proof of HS Graduation, Resume.

Desirable Qualifications

• Coursework in education, psychology, child development, classroom behavior management, and/or Early Childhood Education.
• Experience working with students with disabilities and implementing behavioral management plans.

Pay

• Pay Range: $23.06 - $29.79 per hour.
• Available Pay Stipends:
  • $150 per month incentive for Paraeducators working in the DHH program with proficiency in sign language, as certified by MCOE.
  • $150 per month incentive for Paraeducators with proficiency in Braille and working in a position eligible for this incentive.
  • $150 per month incentive for Specialized Health Care Procedures if assigned to specific students and trained by MCOE.
  • $500 annual training incentive for employees who volunteer to participate in training for certification and willingness to administer emergency medications/procedures as defined by contract.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 6.5 hours per day.
• 183 days per year.
• Full-time position effective for the 26-27 school year.

All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major. The Foreign Transcript Evaluation must be attached to your application before it will be considered.
