About the role

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills. Located at Chrysler School, Modesto, CA.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Some experience working with children or individuals with disabilities.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Qualifications

• SCOE Para Proficiency Test certificate (or substitute: NCLB/ESSA Test certificate from Stanislaus County, CBEST, or transcripts showing ≥48 college units or AA degree/higher).
• If offered employment: DOJ Fingerprint clearance, TB Clearance, Lift Test/Drug Screen clearance.

Benefits

Pay

Salary range: $22.40 – $27.44 per hour (Range 7, CSEA Classified Regular Salary Schedule). Initial salary placement for external candidates limited to Step 3 ($24.95) maximum.

Schedule

Part‑time position: 6 hours per day, 181 days per year (10‑month work year).
