About the role
Join a high-performance team in a 24/7 paper mill operation as a Paper Machine Operator. This role is a launchpad for your career, offering comprehensive, paid training—no previous papermaking experience required. Responsibilities
- Proactively assist your team with setting up, operating, and maintaining state-of-the-art papermaking equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
- Perform physical testing of raw materials and finished products to maintain high-quality standards.
- Assist with preventative machine maintenance and perform small repairs using mechanical aptitude.
- Interpret data from computer systems, perform basic mathematical computations, and complete reports accurately and on time.
- Monitor, control, and adjust machines and processes, and participate in cross-training across multiple job disciplines.
- Uphold all established safe work practices and maintain awareness of your surroundings to ensure a safe environment.
- Learn to provide training and become proficient in all job areas within the mill.
Requirements
- A 2- to 4-year post-secondary degree (college, university, technical school, military, or equivalent real-world experience) is required.
- Proven learning aptitude and a strong desire to participate in ongoing educational and certificate training programs.
- Working knowledge of basic computer use, ability to read technical diagrams, and a knack for "light general maintenance."
- Ability to communicate effectively, understand complex procedures, and operate a calculator.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift 50+ pounds (non-repetitively), climb stairs and ladders, and work in extreme temperatures.
- Meticulous approach to safety; willingness to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all plant rules.
- Must pass a drug test/screening, background check, physical exam, and pre-employment aptitude testing.
