Paper Machine Operator

About the role

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to join our team in sustainable manufacturing. This role involves working in a fast-paced, high-temperature environment as part of a collaborative and supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor machines, equipment, and processes
• Perform housekeeping duties, including washing up, raking paper, and shoveling debris
• Conduct small repairs on paper mill equipment
• Identify areas for process improvement
• Perform tests on raw materials or finished products
• Conduct continuous fast-paced walking rounds of the work area
• Install paper machine clothing
• Train other employees and receive cross-training in multiple plant jobs

Requirements

• Ability to solve problems independently
• Ability to multitask and work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow directions and interpret data from computer systems
• Proficiency in using hand tools
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to move quickly and stay on feet for 12-hour shifts
• High awareness of surroundings and potential hazards
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders
• Ability to tolerate a hot (100+ degree) climate
• Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift roster (days, nights, weekends, and holidays)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (required)
• College Degree (preferred)
• Military background (a plus)
• Paper mill experience (a plus)
