Paper Lab Analyst

About the role

The primary role of the Paper and Stock Lab Analyst is to provide paper and stock sample handling and analysis to our Products and Services Team located in Appleton, WI.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with regional sales managers and service team members to support customer testing requests.
• Learn and complete various paper and stock sample testing, including but not limited to Consistency (Tappi T240), Stickies/Hydrophobics, Flakes (VSTM 118.0), Debris (VSTM 101.0), Freeness (Tappi T277), Sand (VTSM 109.1), TSO/TSI, Tapio, etc.
• Coordinate testing from other Voith facilities and outside vendors.
• Maintain lab equipment maintenance and calibration procedures.
• Receive and handle paper and stock samples.

• Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve problems and make improvements.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers, management team, and service and sales personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills, including written and oral presentation of technical information.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Intermediate‑level knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
• Ability to read, understand, and accurately perform all mathematical calculations required for the job.
• Results‑oriented, strong teamwork skills, self‑motivated, capable of working independently and multitasking.
• Basic knowledge of quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Ability to operate all fork trucks and cranes safely.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Two‑year vocational degree or equivalent preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in an engineering or science field (individuals with less experience may be considered).

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing at lab work stations and testing equipment.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds at times.
