PALNG Sr DCS Engineer

Primary Purpose

Provides advanced engineering expertise to design, optimize, and integrate complex systems across multiple disciplines. Leads technical reviews, ensures compliance with industry standards, and delivers innovative solutions that improve operational performance and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering guidance to technicians and operators for troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
• Creates construction cost projections and evaluates the technical effort requirements for projects.
• Contributes to implementing maintenance strategies to minimize equipment failures and downtime.
• Identifies potential hazards and develops mitigation strategies.
• Ensures cost-effective procurement of engineering materials and services.
• Contributes to creating engineering procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency.
• Identifies opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Lead Configuration, Programming, Testing, and Maintenance of the Plant DCS

• Develops and optimizes control narratives, logic diagrams, HMI graphics, process alarms, and system architecture documentation.
• Implements advanced control strategies (APC), sequence controls, and interlocks to improve plant performance and reliability.
• Maintains cybersecurity best practices for control systems and ensures compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

• Education: Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Experience: Typically requires 8 years of related experience. 8–12+ years of experience in process automation, controls engineering, or DCS engineering in the LNG, petrochemical, refining, or gas processing industry.
• Skills and Abilities: Strong proficiency with at least one major DCS platform (Emerson DeltaV, ABB, etc.), cryogenic process control, compressor control, gas turbine integration, and safety systems. Knowledge of industry standards: ISA S88/S95, IEC 61508/61511, API, NFPA, and relevant LNG regulations.
