Duties & Responsibilities
- Divides clinical duties between staffing the inpatient palliative care unit and providing consultative services.
- Collaborates closely with both palliative care and medical oncology fellows.
- Actively involved in the training and education of residents and medical students.
Position Responsibilities
Teaching: Trains medical students, residents and fellows while in the clinic and on the inpatient service.
Research: Reasonable scholarly activities, such as publications, presentations at national meetings and participation in appropriate academic organizations, are expected as well as active participation as a scientific member of the department and Massey Cancer Center.
Service: Expected to be active in decreasing health disparities in the community served by Massey/VCU.
Clinical: Attends on the inpatient wards and consult service, and/or sees patients in the outpatient clinic with a focus on supportive care.
Qualifications
- Board certified or eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
