About the role

This position is responsible for the set-up, operation, and disassembling of production equipment to produce work-in-process and finished goods. The role is dual-function: working in production and then transitioning into sanitation as directed by the plant production supervisor. Safety compliance and reinforcement are core responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) during production, sanitation, and material handling.
  • Maintain and adjust equipment to control designated weights on individual packages or cases.
  • Meet production performance requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Transfer finished products and raw materials to identified locations in the plant, warehouse, or production line.
  • Follow all safety requirements, including wearing prescribed PPE for each work activity.
  • Perform CCP checks as needed during manufacturing.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to the position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • Report all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel (e.g., shift lead, supervisor, QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of industrial equipment or food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to communicate production issues, counts, and weights to supervision or lead personnel.
  • Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift/Pallet Jack Certification.
  • Knowledge of GMP and safe food manufacturing practices.

Physical Demands

The role requires the ability to sit, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms frequently. Occasional standing, walking, handling objects, climbing, balancing, and tasting/smelling may be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment includes exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level is usually loud.

Pay

$17.85 to $21.42 per hour.
