Painter/Stainer
About the role
Prepare door slabs for painting and staining. Apply paint, varnishes, and stains to interior and/or exterior surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint using paint removers, scrapers, wire brushes, or blowtorches.
- Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using a caulking gun or a putty knife.
- Prime surfaces as necessary.
- Successfully complete paint projects.
- Maintain tools and equipment and ensure proper and safe working condition.
- Verify proper color to be sprayed.
- Verify surface is free of defects and mix buckets of paint if necessary.
- Spray surface of door as per established SOP.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain clean work environment.
- Ensure parts match orders.
- Perform other miscellaneous jobs as directed.
Requirements
- Ability to efficiently use air/hand tools to paint product.
- Ability to read/understand humidity chart.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures with paint.
- Read and interpret ticket, door/customer quality specs.
- Identify defects.
- Knowledge of sanders, planers, hand tools, putty knife, sanding block, wood chisel.
- High attention to detail detecting defects.
- Regular attendance and timeliness is an essential function of the job.
- Follow all operational and safety SOP’s as written.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred but not required.
- Previous work experience in a production environment, preferred.
