Painter I

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the application of protective and decorative coats (paint, varnish, lacquer) to all interior and exterior surfaces and property.
• Prepares surfaces (washing, scraping, sanding) and maintains existing paint through matching and tinting.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains drywall, wall texturing, vinyl wall coverings, and ceiling acoustic texturing.
• Operates and maintains various painting and power equipment, including compressors, spray equipment, sandblasters, and heavy lift equipment (scissors/boom stage up to 80 feet).
• Safely handles and disposes of hazardous materials and follows Standard Precautions using required personal protective equipment.
• Erects scaffolding and staging as necessary to reach work surfaces.
• Creates and applies graphics/signage layouts to comply with DOT, Safety, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
• Communicates with personnel on work order status and procedures for decision-making and compliance.
• Supports Special Projects, participates in assigned meetings, workshops, and training, and completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have one or more of the following:
• Graduate of trade school
• Experience: 1+ year relevant experience
• Other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience
