About the role

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a Painter I to join our team in Richmond, VA. This position is part of the Paint Department and involves painting parts, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Applies powder paint coating using manual paint guns while adhering to all operational and quality standards.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment prior to parts arriving at the paint booth.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on powder booths, spray parts, and washer systems as required.
  • Paints/re-paints refrigerated display case parts on a suspended conveyor at line speeds that correspond with parts being painted.
  • Performs color changes following established procedures and time limits.
  • Inspects completed parts exiting the paint booth for defects and notifies lead/supervisors as necessary.
  • Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
  • Effectively interacts and communicates with paint line team leaders and team members.
  • Assumes other activities and responsibilities as directed by supervision.

What are the basic qualifications?

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Pass Hill PHOENIX certification training.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing painting position or powder coating experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.

Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements

  • May be required to perform specific tasks involving standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling.
  • Lifts with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels, and dust.
