Duties And Responsibilities
- Paints a variety of surfaces according to directions.
- Has knowledge of any of the accepted surface preparations, coating methods and techniques including those designed to give special effects.
- Prepares coating materials by blending, tinting, toning and mixing in various additives.
- BUILDS UP SHAPES AND LEVELS SURFACES WITH METAL AND SYNTHETIC RESINS, PLASTICS AND PATCHING COMPOUNDS.
- OWNS FINELY SMOOTHED SURFACES WITH ABRASIVES, EVENS OUT DENTS BY BURNING-IN PROCESSES AND TREATS SURFACES WITH PRECOATING AGENTS.
- ASSURES THAT THE COATING FINISH MEETS THE DESIRED MATCH TEXTURE AND THICKNESS REQUIREMENTS.
- USES A VARIETY OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT SUCH AS BRUSHES, ROLLERS, SPRAY GUNS, TROWELS, STRAIGHT EDGES, VISCOMETERS, AND GRAINING DEVICES.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- FREQUENTLY LIFTS, CARRIES AND SETS UP MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT THAT WEIGHS UP TO 10 POUNDS.
- OCASIONALLY HANDLES MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT WEIGHING 40 POUNDS AND OVER.
Working Conditions
- Works inside and outside.
- Occasionally exposed to bad weather that requires wearing heavy and uncomfortable protective clothing.
- Exposed frequently to cuts and bruises and the possibility of broken bones from falling ladders and scaffolds.
