Responsibilities
- Perform abrasive blasting and painting operations using specialized marine coatings.
- Apply coatings to meet specific contract, specification, and quality requirements.
- Interpret and follow blasting and painting standards, including: – Surface preparation and blast profiles – Mil thickness requirements – Environmental and application tolerances
- Execute blasting and painting tasks as directed by supervision across various shipyard environments.
- Follow all safety procedures that meet — and often exceed — industry standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in industrial or marine blasting and painting.
- Understanding of coating systems, blast profiles, and mil-thickness requirements.
- Ability to work safely in demanding environments, including heights and confined spaces.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and teamwork.
- Must have a minimum 3 or more years experience as a painter/blaster.
- Able to identify and correct blast and paint deficiencies as required by the contract specifications.
- Able to sand blast and demonstrate how to utilize each part of the blast equipment.
