Painter (Commercial)
Technical Skill and Equipment Maintenance
Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
Appropriately prep all surfaces prior to applying primer, paint, varnish, stains and caulk. This would include, but is not limited to cleaning, patching, sanding and grinding.
Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
Professionally apply primer, paint, varnish, stain and caulk to offices, general warehouse and exterior as needed.
Concrete, asphalt, and floor striping
Professionally apply primers and paint to piping as needed. Must meet any compliance requirements.
Maintain and clean all painting equipment
Complete all training required for compliance as scheduled
Dispose of paint following current EPA guidelines and company requirements
Separate and recycle as necessary (scrap metal/iron, all types of batteries, etc.)
Adhere to all health and safety precautions
Follow all company Policy and Procedures
May be required to assist with “Cold Patch” repairs
May be required to perform minor patching to office walls
May be required to perform minor patching of concrete floor areas using filler materials
May be required to operate stock equipment (forklifts, man lifts, powered paint striper, etc.)
May be required to install or repair minor wood items such as but not limited to office chair rails
Performs all other duties as assigned by B&F department management
Preferred Qualifications
Must be licensed (DOT) to drive company vehicles
Must have the ability to perform all job functions at various heights using ladders, scaffolds or man-lifts
Must be able to professionally interact with all warehouse associates
Must be able to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements as required to perform the job
Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work on, in and under equipment with approved PPE equipment when necessary
Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work at both ground level and in high places
Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities and tasks
Must have the ability to operate work related equipment and tools (hand and power) to include but not limited to powered equipment, forklifts, man-lifts, pallet jacks, and powered paint striping machine equipment.
Must have the ability to learn and follow Company and Distribution Center policies and procedures encompassing work orders, purchase requisitions/orders, spare parts and supplies inventories.
Must have the ability to read and comprehend all labeling on hazardous materials and equipment in the facility(s).
Working Conditions
Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and materials necessary to perform job functions.
Potential exposure to solvents or other chemical used to perform the job.
Work environment temperature ranges from -20F degrees to +90F degrees with appropriate PPE.
Exposure to work tasks may be required at second or third story levels (approximately 20’ to 40’) from finished floor levels.
