Painter
Salary Range: $20/hr–$23/hr plus an Elite Benefit Package. Pay is based on experience.
About the role
The Painter performs professional-grade interior and exterior painting, surface preparation, and finishing work across all Wildwood Program facilities. This role is crucial to maintaining a clean, vibrant, and safe environment for the people we support, staff, and visitors. Operating under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the painter handles routine maintenance paint requests, large-scale projects, and urgent touch-ups.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in painting and maintenance work
- Experience using various painting tools and equipment effectively
- Proven track record of completing painting projects on time and to a high standard
- Valid New York State Driver’s License and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage
Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Scrape, sand, patch, caulk, and prime surfaces including drywall, plaster, concrete block, brick, wood, and metal before applying finishes; remove graffiti and repair damaged walls
- Application of Finishes: Apply paints, stains, varnishes, sealers, and protective coatings to interior and exterior walls, ceilings, trim, floors, and furniture using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment
- Interior Projects: Paint and stain facility interiors, including walls, trim, and other areas as needed
- Exterior Projects: Paint facility exteriors, outbuildings, doors, fences, and trim; line-striping parking lots, curbs, and play areas as needed
- Dry Wall and Masonry Repair: Tape, mud, and texture drywall; repair minor cracks in plaster or concrete block surfaces
Qualifications
- Able to work in varied environments: indoor classrooms, hallways, offices, residential locations, commercial office space, and outdoor environments subject to changing weather conditions (heat, cold, wind)
- Periodically exposed to airborne particles, fumes, paint odors, and loud machinery
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, safety glasses, and gloves when tasks dictate
Physical Demands
- Movement: Constantly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods
- Lifting: Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds (such as 5-gallon paint buckets)
- Height Tolerance: Comfortable working at heights; ability to climb and balance on ladders, scaffolding, and motorized lifts to reach high ceilings or exterior rooflines
- Dexterity: Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to achieve clean lines and uniform finishes
Pay
$20/hr–$23/hr plus an Elite Benefit Package.
