Painter
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligible.
About the role
As a Painter for Auxiliary Facilities Services, you will perform semi-skilled and sub-journey-level work involving the maintenance, repair, remodeling, alteration, and construction of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment. You will perform floor laying and floor-covering work and coordinate with other trades and crafts in support of new construction and remodeling projects. In this role, you may lead apprentices or helpers as assigned and will operate motor vehicles as required to complete work assignments.
Pay
Monthly Salary: $4,517 to $5,240 | Range 43G Steps G - M. Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Requirements
- Journey-level standing as a painter as attested by:
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship, OR
- Full journey-level status in Painters’ Union, OR
- Four years of experience in State service as full-time helper to a journey-level Painter, OR
- Equivalent education/experience
- Ability to respond to an emergency outside normal business hours
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the application and removal of a variety of decorative and functional coverings to floors, walls, and countertops, including carpet, base, tile and grout, sheet vinyl and vinyl planking
- Experience working with other trades and entities
