Painter
About the role
Incumbent prepares surfaces and applies an appropriate finish to interior and exterior substrates such as wood, paneling, plaster, stucco, brick, block, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and drywall. Employee will exhibit experience and skill with regards to drywall finishing. Operates and maintains conventional and airless spray equipment inclusive of a Wagner airless stripper. Uses and maintains paintbrushes, roller, ladders, and scaffolding. Tints paints on a colorant tinting machine.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces and apply finishes to interior and exterior substrates
- Operate and maintain conventional and airless spray equipment
- Use and maintain paintbrushes, rollers, extension poles, scaffolding, and ladders
- Tint paints on a colorant tinting machine
- Exhibit experience and skill with state of the art painting equipment and materials
- Perform drywall finishing tasks, including operating a Hopper gun for texturing effects
- Apply acrylic, oil, and stain finishes using conventional or airless spray equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints and color schedules
- Must be able to read, speak, and write English well
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
- Must be able to pass a medical examination for the purpose of wearing a required respirator
Requirements
- Driver's License Required
- Valid California driver license
- Medical exam required due to the need to wear a respirator
- Available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedules as required
- Willingness to work weekends
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience with state of the art painting equipment and materials
- Experience with drywall finishing, including operating a Hopper gun for texturing effects
- Knowledge of various materials and their application methods
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and color schedules
- Ability to read, speak, and write English well
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to pass a medical examination for the purpose of wearing a respirator
Skills
- State of the art painting equipment (brushes, rollers, extension poles, scaffolding, steep and extension ladders)
- Patching walls, ceilings, wood filling
- Drywall finishing, including operating a Hopper gun for texturing effect
- Acrylic, oil, and stain application using conventional or airless spray equipment
- Knowledge of various materials and their application methods
