About the Role
As a painter, you will prep, prime, fill, paint, and finish builds from the Fabrication and Router departments using materials commonly used in the automotive and sign painting industries. The finished merchandise must have a perfect, blemish-free finish. Any flaws in metals or other materials will be addressed with body fillers or glazing putties and sanded to a premium-quality surface before applying paints and/or clear coats.
Responsibilities
- Assess project types and select the best materials for completion.
- Perform cycle counts of paint and paint materials as needed.
- Read and interpret work orders and CAD drawing packets to ensure correct color and finish application.
- Demonstrate competency in the safe use of paint/finishing chemicals, spray guns, paint booths, and various sanding/grinding tools.
- Maintain general housekeeping of the paint department and ensure orderly, safe storage of finished or in-progress products.
- Understand the interrelationship between the paint department and other production workflows.
- Cross-train and assist in other departments when workload demands.
- Verify that all work order information is complete and provides a full understanding of tasks.
- Perform any other related tasks or responsibilities assigned by a supervisor.

Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- 3+ years of experience in a painter position.
- 3+ years of experience with prep, sanding, and filling.
- 2+ years of experience with powder coating.
- Ability to read a mixing cup and paint tech sheets.
- Competency in selecting appropriate paints/coatings for specific surfaces or applications.
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, to meet customer deadlines.
Schedule
Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
