Painter

Essential Functions

• Completes washing, sanding, priming, painting, detailing and minor re-assembly to support production schedules and customer commitments.
• Under close supervision, performs after paint inspection activities.
• Prepares units for next operation in accordance with company procedures.
• Initiates Engineering Change Requests to improve quality, reduce cycle times and/or to correct nonconformities.
• Complies with Hazardous Waste Management requirements.
• Maintains compliance with Quality Management System requirements in accordance with ISO9001.
• Maintains all aspects of work place organization.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate records.
• May operate forklifts.
• May provide assistance to other departments, as needed.
• May participate in Small Group Improvement Activity Teams, daily Team Meetings and Team Exercise sessions.

Qualifications

• High School graduate, or equivalent.
• Desired: Experience performing painting and detail work in automotive or related field.
• Desired: 2 Year Degree in related Vocational Field of Study.
• Requires ability to learn and understand paint and detail processes and techniques; requires an eye for detail.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable operating and documentation procedures and material flow.
• Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees.

Physical And Environmental Elements

• Work in a factory environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery.
• Accurate hand/eye coordination is required.
• Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull.
• Work involves considerable standing, stooping, bending, or sitting for long periods of time.
• May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
