About the role
The Painter will apply various coatings to interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures. They will also contribute to maintaining a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide guest service in a positive and helpful manner.
- Safely remove old paint and prepare surfaces for new applications.
- Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with appropriate fillers.
- Protect surfaces during preparation and painting by covering them with drop cloths, masking tape, and paper.
- Remove fixtures such as pictures and light switch covers before painting.
- Select and mix paints to match specified colors, and apply them using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
- Create special effects on surfaces using cloths, brushes, sponges, or fingers.
- Wallpaper walls and refinish furniture.
- Erect scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks at elevated levels.
- Coordinate painting activities with other departments.
- Work scheduled shifts, arrive on time, and adhere to the hotel's dress code.
- Follow and support the hotel's Service Commitment and Core Values.
- Perform all work in compliance with applicable safety laws and regulations.
- Store hazardous chemicals in approved containers.
- Assist Engineers and Landscaping departments as directed.
Requirements
- Three years minimum experience in painting and sheetrocking.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operating instructions, safety rules, and manuals.
- Safe use of hand and power tools.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts accurately.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
