Painter

About the role

Our Painter is primarily responsible for applying proper painting techniques to components, engines, transmissions, cylinders, and all types of vehicular equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment while painting surfaces using appropriate methods, including automotive-grade finishes.
• Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
• Set up and operate machines to paint or coat products.
• Clean and maintain coating and painting machines.
• Measure thickness and quality of coating using a micrometer.
• Examine and test solutions, paints, products, and workpieces to ensure specifications are met.
• Operate auxiliary machines or equipment used in the coating or painting process.
• Weigh or measure chemicals, coatings, or paints and add them to machines.
• Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

Requirements

• Ability to perform basic and complex mathematical fundamentals—add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to wear proper PPE, including a respirator and paint suit.
• Ability to solve practical problems and offer innovative solutions to unique problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, and other related publications.
• Stable work history.
• Minimum one-year experience as a skilled painter.

Skills

• Familiarity operating forklift, overhead crane and rigging, painting equipment including paint gun, basic hand tools, sanders, and pneumatic tools.
