About the role
The Painter position within the Facilities Management division is responsible for providing general maintenance and repair of all campus buildings and facilities. Specific duties include completing painting assignments, supervising 5-6 summer assistants, and ensuring the proper maintenance of painting vehicles.
Responsibilities
- To complete all painting assignments, which involves mixing paint per the requirements of the specific job decor, performing the painting in a timely and quality-related fashion, performing drywall patching and prepping before painting, and interacting with supervisor on the requirements of requested services and special needs.
- To perform and complete electronic (SchoolDude) and/or verbal work requests from supervisors, and other departments as needed.
- To recommend supplies and materials needed.
- To assist Campus Planning and Design with painting upgrades in classrooms and offices.
- To inspect all dorm rooms as needed during RIFs at the end of the school year, complete student damage repairs and charges.
- To participate in the professional development of the Facilities Department, promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the University, participating in regularly scheduled staff meetings, and communicating effectively with supervisor concerning pertinent university, departmental, and other matters.
- To promote safe and secure working conditions, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, wearing safety shoes, uniforms, and any PPE provided at all times as appropriate, ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices, ensuring proper maintenance of vehicles, tools and other related equipment, promoting the proper utilization of equipment and tools, and notifying supervisor immediately of any unsafe working conditions.

Requirements
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: 2 years' experience in painting. Possession of a valid CT motor vehicle license in good standing.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Needed:
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Availability to work during inclement weather, as well as during peak periods of required overtime, and emergency call-ins.
- Able to work alone and capable of lifting a minimum of 50lbs with no weight restrictions.
- Able to work on roofs and climb ladders.
- Able to work at various heights and in all types of weather conditions.
- Knowledge of proper painting techniques.
