About the role

Has primary responsibility for the Planned (PM) and Corrective Maintenance of the hospital building's interior and exterior services. Applies paint, varnish, stain, wall cover and other finishes to decorate and protect interior and exterior, equipment and furniture of hospital facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be eligible for overtime status.
  • Able to work reasonable extended hours to accomplish priority repairs and to fill in for disaster, vacation or illness coverage.
  • Makes decisions on equipment and material needs to successfully complete a job.
  • Responsible for following standard safety requirements, taking adequate precautions to protect adjacent hospital equipment, furniture and other items and maintain work area in clean and safe condition.
  • Moves furnishings, when necessary, to gain access to area and complete painting tasks.
  • Completes the thorough cleaning of brushes, rollers and spray equipment when job is finished.
  • Performs duties of the department within his/her capabilities as assigned by the Supervisor and the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Accepts responsibility for the safety of department employees.
  • Moves furnishings, when necessary, to gain access to area and complete painting tasks.
  • Coordinates activities with other hospital trade sections to expedite work, reads blueprints and specifications.
  • Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  • Fulfills the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
  • Utilizes CMMS to complete and document work assignments.
  • Follows ICRA/PCRA procedures outlined by Epidemiology.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: 3 years of relevant experience
  • Three to five years of painting and/or related trade experience.

Starting between $26.72 and $32.74 per hour.

Schedule

Day shift: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
