Responsibilities
- Prepare units for coating by performing surface prep, including cleaning, masking, and final inspection prior to paint application.
- Perform painting operations within a paint booth using an HVLP pressure pot system.
- Apply epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat in accordance with specifications and work instructions.
- Mix and handle two-part coatings, primarily Amercoat 450H, ensuring proper ratios and application techniques.
- Monitor coating thickness, finish quality, and cure requirements to meet quality standards.
- Perform touch-ups and rework as needed to ensure a finished, defect-free product.
- Maintain paint booth equipment, spray systems, and work area to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Adhere to printed work instruction manuals and all quality procedures.
- Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, including proper use of PPE when handling coatings and solvents.
- Participate in department safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Physical Work Environment
- Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling.
- Frequent heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, and material handling.
- Ability to work in a paint booth environment with proper protective equipment.
- The ability to work overtime and some Saturdays as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- Previous industrial painting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience applying two-part epoxy and polyurethane coatings.
- Familiarity with HVLP pressure pot spray systems strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in a shop, manufacturing, or fabrication environment.
