Responsibilities
- Perform production duties such as manual lifting of metal pieces
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
- Read work orders, paint specifications, and production schedules
- Verify part number, alloy, finish requirements, and color code before painting
- Clean, degrease, and prepare aluminum surfaces for coating
- Mask areas that must remain unpainted
- Mix and reduce paint according to manufacturer specifications
- Operate spray guns, pumps, and paint booth equipment
- Apply primer and topcoat with proper coverage and appearance
- Monitor flash-off and curing conditions
- Measure coating thickness using approved gauges
- Inspect for runs, sags, orange peel, fisheyes, dry spray, and other defects
- Complete quality and production documentation
- Maintain housekeeping and clean painting equipment after use
- Inspect PPE before entering the paint area
- Follow manufacturer mixing ratio
- Use calibrated mixing containers
- Stir thoroughly and strain paint before use
- Label mixed material with time and batch information
- Maintain proper gun distance and overlap
- Apply light tack coat if required
- Apply full wet coats evenly
- Verify oven temperature and conveyor speed
- Record inspection results
- Report defects to the supervisor immediately
- Flush spray equipment with approved solvent
- Return paint containers to designated storage
- Dispose of waste according to environmental procedures
- Clean booth and surrounding work area
- Complete end-of-shift housekeeping checklist
- Respirator approved for painting vapors and particulates
- Safety glasses or chemical splash goggles
- Face shield when mixing chemicals
- Chemical-resistant gloves
- Painting suits or protective clothing
- Safety shoes with slip-resistant soles
- Hearing protection when required
Qualifications
- Education- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- 6 Months to one year of experience in a fast-paced environment
- Accurately uses and understands measuring tape
- This position works in a manufacturing - heat intensive environment
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment in all weather conditions
- Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally
- Bend, twist, climb, squat, kneel throughout shift
- Able to work in extreme heat or cold conditions
- Able to function successfully in a fast-paced, changing work environment
- Must be able to handle both large pieces and small pieces of aluminum extrusions
- Use hands for simple and power grasping as well as push/pull and fine manipulation
- Work at and/or below shoulder level
- See fine detail in printed product along with checking for color accuracy
- Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions
- Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization
- Perform basic visual quality inspections on products
- Maintain the production pace of other team members
- Utilize power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties
- Able to work weekends and OT
- Perform related duties as required by supervision
- Be willing to work in a manufacturing heat intensive environment
Pay
The pay for this position is $24.72. If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
