About the Role

Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI and secondary locations is seeking a pain medicine physician to join the Department of Pain Medicine. This full-time clinician role primarily involves ambulatory outpatient clinic and procedure suite work, collaborating with 5 additional physicians and 3 Advanced Practice Providers in Wisconsin. The position offers opportunities for growth in educational, research, and administrative areas as it matures.

An academic appointment with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine will be awarded based on merit.

Practice Details

The practice focuses on adult care with an emphasis on interventional procedures, primarily conducted in a newly designed fluoroscopy suite (opened September 2024) and a state-of-the-art hospital on the La Crosse campus. Workups in clinic are supported by adjacent physical medicine & rehab and neurosurgery practices. The role includes performing a wide range of fluoroscopic pain medicine procedures, such as:

• Spinal injections
• Radiofrequency ablations
• Peripheral and spine stimulator trials and placements
• Ultrasound-guided procedures
• Intrathecal pump management
• Advanced and newer procedures and techniques

Candidates must be willing to educate and supervise fellows, residents, and medical students, and work within care teams incorporating Advanced Practice Providers and nursing.

Requirements

• Physician (MD or DO) with ACGME-certified pain medicine fellowship training
• Board-certification or board-eligibility in Pain Medicine and base specialty
• Experience in clinical management of pain patients with complex medical histories via a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach
