About the Role

When you come to work for New Jersey Judiciary, you will join an 8,500-member team that operates with the highest standards of independence, integrity, fairness, and quality service. Interns will perform a variety of clerical, administrative, supportive tasks, and customer service duties in connection with court proceedings. This internship offers a broad insight and knowledge of the court system, with flexible schedules available.

The selected candidates will treat all personnel, clients, and members of the public with dignity, courtesy, and respect. Internships may be available in the following divisions: Trial Court Administration, Civil, Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA), Family, Operations, and Ombudsman.

Responsibilities

  • Performing special projects
  • Conducting research and analysis
  • Performing computer-related work
  • Assisting with answering phones, returning calls, and managing voicemails
  • Collecting and entering data
  • Providing customer service
  • Drafting correspondences and memos
  • Attending community planning meetings
  • Assisting staff as directed
  • Data entry and look-ups, filing, and making photocopies

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications

  • Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree.
  • Unofficial college or university transcript reflecting current Fall 2026 enrollment must be included in your application.

Requirements

  • For some positions, the ability to perform work requiring climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending, and reaching.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and occasionally materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Driver's license valid in New Jersey, if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. according to Department of Homeland Security regulations.
  • Agreement to a thorough background check, including fingerprinting.
  • In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, newly hired employees must establish and maintain principal residency in the State of New Jersey within one year.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00.

Schedule

  • This internship runs from September 2026 through December 2026.
  • Limited to a maximum of 35 hours per week, not to exceed 944 hours in a fiscal year.
  • Availability to work for a minimum of 4 months is preferred.
