About the role
The New York Post delivers news, sports, pop culture, and entertainment with unmatched speed, attitude, and authority, reaching more than 90 million unique viewers each month. With a 225-year legacy and a digital-first newsroom, the Post operates across print, digital, video, audio, app, television, and commerce. This role will lead Page Six’s enterprise operation on the West Coast, differentiating Page Six and the California Post in a competitive landscape. Reporting to the News Editor, Exclusives, with a dotted line to the News Editor, California Post, you will build and guide a team of reporters focused on original, agenda-setting stories, cultivating sources to break news rather than chase it.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of West Coast reporters focused on identifying, developing, and executing exclusive, agenda-setting stories that distinguish Page Six and the California Post from competitors, driving sustained impact and audience growth.
- Maintain existing and develop new industry contacts.
- Attend daily Page Six Exclusives and California Post meetings to identify source opportunities, troubleshoot reporting challenges, and refine news strategy in real time.
- Work closely with New York and California newsrooms to drive original reporting and break exclusives.
- Ensure exclusive story efforts align tightly with broader news priorities and coverage plans of Page Six and the California Post.
- Contribute to the broader growth of Page Six and the California Post by increasing editorial authority and reputation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in entertainment journalism, with significant success breaking news and developing sources.
- Strong experience leading teams during breaking news situations and advancing stories through diverse sourcing and follow-up reporting.
- Deep understanding of journalistic ethics and legal standards governing reporting, including source protection, libel, defamation, and responsible handling of sensitive stories.
- Exceptional news judgment with a deep knowledge of key players in the West Coast entertainment industry.
- Extensive experience breaking timely and accurate court and legal updates, including requesting police reports, mug shots, body-camera footage, court filings, and financial, business, and real estate records.
- Leadership style that sets a high bar for performance and accountability, fosters a supportive environment, and drives standout work.
- Strong editing and fact-checking skills, with meticulous attention to detail under tight deadlines.
- An extensive contacts book.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure newsroom environment.

This role is based in the California office and requires in-office reporting 5 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).
Pay
Base pay range: $100,000 – $150,000. This range reflects our good faith estimate and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Bonus-eligible roles have targets determined by market benchmarks and individual contributions.
