PACU/OR Nurse (Per Diem)

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in a per diem capacity.

Responsibilities

• Maintain nursing functions within the Procedure Room, including assisting with egg retrievals, cyst aspirations under anesthesia, embryo transfers, and related procedures, while providing high-quality post-anesthesia recovery care.
• Play a hands-on role in the procedure room and recovery area, ensuring every patient receives safe, attentive, and compassionate care from prep through discharge.
• Verify patient identity, complete chart and anesthesia packets per protocol, and confirm consents prior to procedures.
• Position patients appropriately, maintain a sterile environment, and assist physicians and anesthesiologists during procedures.
• Monitor patients post-anesthesia, assess and manage pain and nausea, and ensure compliance with discharge instructions.
• Assist with D&Es, office hysteroscopy, and other clinical procedures; conduct allergy assessments and initiate necessary precautions.
• Administer emergency care as needed, including CPR and code blue protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in supply management, inventory restocking, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

• Current RN or LPN licensure in Louisiana (required)
• Strong understanding of anesthesia protocols and post-anesthesia recovery procedures
• Ability to respond to emergency situations with composure and efficiency; physical stamina for lifting and positioning patients
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Preferred: previous experience in a surgical, PACU, or procedural clinical setting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited nursing program
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Schedule

• This is a per diem position based in Metairie, LA.
• Management distributes the schedule one month at a time.
• Weekday and weekend availability for a minimum of 4 shifts per month is required.
• Shifts generally begin at 6:00 AM.
• Weekend shifts are compensated at 1.5x the hourly rate.
