About the role
As our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, you will take a leadership role in assessing patient/family health problems and resources, and developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing care plans. This position provides professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill patient populations across all ages, from infancy to later life/geriatric, within our dynamic Perioperative department.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient/family health problems and resources, and develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care plans
- Provide professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill patient populations across all ages
- Review consent forms and answer questions about procedures
- Perform preoperative assessments and prepare patients for various surgical procedures
- Serve as a patient advocate through holistic care practices
- Recognize and adapt swiftly to changes in patient conditions (e.g., abnormal lab results, vital signs) in a timely and clinically appropriate manner
- Utilize the SBAR format for physician notification
- Perform bedside nurse-to-nurse reports
- Administer medications as directed by physician
- Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients
- Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients
- Organize and prioritize patient care activities balanced with the needs and comfort of the patient
Requirements
- One (1) year RN experience within Critical Care (ICU, Telemetry, ER)
- Registered Nurse: AZ or Compact license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 30 days
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring skills
- BSN
- One (1) year post anesthesia care experience
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, critical care (surgical) background, pediatric experience helpful
