PACU Nurse

About the Role

The PACU Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, utilizing therapeutic communication and maintaining a safe environment. They identify nursing problems, develop individualized care plans using an interdisciplinary approach, and participate in performance improvement activities. As acting charge nurse, they oversee daily operations, assign staff based on patient acuity and skill, and serve as a clinical resource.

Responsibilities

• Utilize therapeutic communication, ensure patient privacy, and document care
• Assess age-specific needs, perform technical skills, follow protocols, and demonstrate critical thinking
• Coordinate care aligning with hospital mission and foster a therapeutic environment

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school
• Current RN licensure (state-specific or compact)
• Current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, CPI, and TNCC preferred
• Minimum of 1 year ICU, ER, or PACU experience
