PACT Practical Nurse - GYN

About the role

The vacancy may be used to fill multiple LPN positions within PACT. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Graduate of an approved school of practical or vocational nursing
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse in the US or District of Columbia
  • Experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility
  • Provide practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems
  • Work with RNs and/or MDs/DOs to orient/train less experienced LPNs/LVNs and/or Nursing Assistants (NAs)/Health Technicians (HTs)
  • Prepare, administer, and document actions related to commonly prescribed medications
  • Recognize and respond to emergency measures and report changes in patient condition
  • Report equipment malfunctions and supply deficiencies to appropriate personnel
  • Perform personal care, diagnostic support duties, and treatments under RN direction
  • Initiate, administer, assess, monitor, and report IV sites and fluids
  • Participate in patient care and reinforce resources and referrals
  • Complete assignments independently and prioritize tasks based on patient needs
  • Assist during emergent situations, initiate CPR, and obtain equipment and supplies as needed
  • Monitor and manage IV fluids, change IV tubing and site dressing, and discontinue IV sites
  • Document care provided accurately and promptly
  • Assist with birth, adoption, or foster care placements

Requirements

  • Basic nursing skills and knowledge
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Understanding of patient care protocols and emergency procedures
  • Knowledge of infection control standards

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an approved school of practical or vocational nursing
  • Full, active, and unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse in the US or District of Columbia
  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting providing practical nursing care

Skills

  • Proficient in administering and documenting medications
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergency measures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of patient care protocols and emergency procedures

Pay

Grade determinations range from GS-3 to GS-6, with specific pay ranges outlined in the qualification standards.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 0730-1600
