About the Role
A Hand Packing Operator ensures products are packed according to customer requirements, including daily setup, maintenance, changeovers, and accurate packing processes.
Responsibilities
- Receive and validate transfers with correct item numbers and quantities.
- Report problems with quality, equipment, material shortages, or incorrect formulas to the supervisor.
- Document metal detector rejects per policy.
- Ensure production runs to standard and maintain a continuous process across shifts.
- Perform tag-in/tag-out during shift changes while processes are ongoing.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times (5S standards).
- Complete passport labels and apply them to pallets as finished.
- Submit paperwork to the supervisor at the end of each shift.
- Perform allergen cleanings and obtain quality assurance sign-off.
- Adhere to all process procedures, material usage guidelines, and safety policies.
- Set up equipment and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Document efficiency standards and report inefficiencies to the supervisor.
- Pack products by labeling, mixing, forming boxes, and applying code dates per specifications.
- Complete HACCP forms, material consumption, and RAF reporting.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft AX, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-organized with high attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize workload effectively.
- Basic math skills (measurements, percentages, ratios).
- Ability to read labels, formulas, and directions.
- Effective communication and writing in English.
- Dependable and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Standing on a concrete floor for extended periods.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (hair net, latex gloves, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
- Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Required to work weekends during peak season and mandatory overtime as needed.
