Packer I - 2nd Shift

About the Role

Packages materials and products manually by following the work and packaging instructions specified for each product or part. Visually verifies that parts and/or finished products comply with SIG SAUER’s quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Regular on-site attendance and punctuality.
• Efficiently gather packing materials according to the bill of materials, verify serial numbers, complete necessary paperwork, and operate barcode scanners.
• Wrap protective material around products as required.
• Pack and process finished materials and move them to appropriate staging areas within the facility.
• Update the company operating system to perform material movement and other required functions.
• Visually inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process.
• Record information such as serial number, weight, time, and date packaged.
• Communicate any issues with the Packing Lead and/or Supervisor to resolve them in a timely manner.
• Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order.
• May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
• May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
• Participate in all required activities and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• No previous experience typically required.
• Must be able to read and understand work instructions in English.
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
• Ability to accurately perform basic data entry when processing packed parts and product.
• Proficient in basic math.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, sharing information, respecting, and assisting other team members.

Working Conditions

• Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
• Work is primarily standing (90%+ of the shift) with the exception of lunch and break periods.
• Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
• Standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected.
• Frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts, containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently (minimum 50% of the shift).
• Undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
• Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools in packing assembled product.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to focus on fine print.
• Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
• Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
