About the Role
Packages materials and products manually by following the work and packaging instructions specified for each product or part. Visually verifies that parts and/or finished products comply with SIG SAUER’s quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Regular on-site attendance and punctuality.
- Efficiently gather packing materials according to the bill of materials, verify serial numbers, complete necessary paperwork, and operate barcode scanners.
- Wrap protective material around products as required.
- Pack and process finished materials and move them to appropriate staging areas within the facility.
- Update the company operating system to perform material movement and other required functions.
- Visually inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process.
- Record information such as serial number, weight, time, and date packaged.
- Communicate any issues with the Packing Lead and/or Supervisor to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order.
- May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
- May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
- Participate in all required activities and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- No previous experience typically required.
- Must be able to read and understand work instructions in English.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
- Ability to accurately perform basic data entry when processing packed parts and product.
- Proficient in basic math.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, sharing information, respecting, and assisting other team members.
Working Conditions
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
- Work is primarily standing (90%+ of the shift) with the exception of lunch and break periods.
- Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
- Standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts, containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently (minimum 50% of the shift).
- Undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
- Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools in packing assembled product.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to focus on fine print.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
