Packaging Technician I

Come be part of a mission that matters! The Packaging Technician assembles and packages diagnostic test kits used in the food safety industry according to Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout the process.

Schedule

1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Assembles diagnostic test kits
• Labels components
• Completes production paperwork
• Performs final inspections, weights, and counts of items to ensure they meet production standards
• Maintains general cleanliness and organization of physical areas responsible for
• May work at different stations as production needs require
• Performs tasks according to the appropriate Standard Manufacturing Procedure (SMP) or Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
• Follows International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines in the manufacture of all reagents
• Uses good manufacturing procedures (GMP) and good documentation practices (GDP) in the manufacture of all reagents
• Maintains the general cleanliness and organization of work areas using lean processes and 5S
• Adheres to all safety rules and regulations, including personal protective equipment, proper use of equipment, and proper disposal of materials
• Performs repetitive tasks for extended periods while maintaining attention to detail
• Maintains equipment and facilities
• Dispenses bulk solutions through the use of semi-automated equipment
• Assists in physical inventories as required
• Aids in supply management
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or manager
• Complies with and promotes all corporate handbook policies
• Complies with, promotes, and strives to achieve all corporate and departmental goals
• Complies with, promotes, and strives to achieve all productivity, quality, and behavior expectations

Requirements

• High school education or up to one month of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• A minimum tenure of 1 year in the Packaging Assistant I position is required for promotion to Packaging Assistant II

Skills

• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s, and calculate percent using units of American weight and measurement
• Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words, recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers, read and write simple sentences in English, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural documents

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
• Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision

Work Environment

• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, airborne particles, and potentially hazardous chemicals (proper personal protective equipment provided)
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
