Packaging Technician

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Carry out shift schedule: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. (4 days per week) or 4:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (5 days per week)
• Prepare cheese for packaging machines onto conveyors.
• Remove cheese from brine cages.
• Stack cheese boxes neatly on pallets for storage in cooler racks.
• Pack product into boxes using appropriate packaging materials.
• Inspect product and packaging for foreign material and imperfections.
• Segregate suspect product and rerun it through the metal detector if necessary.
• Document vat numbers and report unacceptable products to supervisors.
• Clean and sanitize plant equipment as required.
• Maintain work areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Absorb and assist in other production areas as needed.
• Train new personnel as assigned.
• Minimize water usage and wastewater generation within the scope of the position.
• Comply with all DFA GMP’s and follow all safety policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• No prior experience required

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Basic writing, arithmetic, and reading skills
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
