Packaging Technician 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

  • Complete various tasks daily such as adjusting code dater, adjust tape machining, maintaining clean areas, loading trays on conveyor.
  • Load and adjust packaging into machine according to product.
  • Aid in line startup, start over, and changeover procedure.
  • Work with technology to input specifications and monitor machine functions.
  • Ensure enough materials are staged for product being produced.
  • Ensure the correct amount of product is in bag and/or case to control quantity.
  • Remove out of spec product/materials to control quality.
  • Maintain optimum flow of product to keep product off floor.
  • Make sure that inedible waste is separated and discarded into proper trash containers.
  • Proficient at routine preventative maintenance as well as changeovers.
  • Adhere to production schedules, ensuring production orders are met for finished goods inventories, minimizing waste to ensure conformance to safety and quality standards.
  • Removes all out-of-spec product from the line and notifies Production Supervisor of all non-conforming product or processes on the line.
  • Ensure a safe operation, complying with the corporate accident prevention program, and following safe work practices.
  • Attends monthly required safety meetings when applicable.
  • Informs Management for maintenance and repair of packaging equipment, and for machine parts and manufacturing supplies.
  • Recommends improvements in machinery and equipment and in manufacturing methods.
  • Ensures company standard practices and procedures are followed.
  • Maintains and reports production-related information regarding yields, efficiencies and labor utilization to management and/or related tracking programs.
  • Participates in weekly GMP, sanitation, and safety inspections throughout the production departments and corrects any identified deficiencies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Have received a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must be flexible with schedule, including start times and weekend work.
  • Willing to acquire a wide variety of skills to assist the surrounding team and fully understand the processes.
  • Drive for Results, Process Management, Integrity & Trust, Conflict Management, and Time Management.
  • Able to problem solve, learn on the fly, process and technical learning, and quality decision.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
  • Work in a noisy environment for length of shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Reach above shoulder height. Able to bend, twist, stand, climb stairs/ladders, push/pull, and walk for the length of shift.
