Packaging Team Lead I

Position Summary

The Packaging Team lead is responsible for leading employees to produce finished goods safely, efficiently, timely, and in compliance with FDA, GMP, ISO, OSHA, contract customers, and SAP policies.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Comprehend and apply Standardized Work guidelines for labor, equipment, and materials to achieve team objectives related to safety, productivity, quality, and delivery.
• Apply Plan-Do-Check-Adjust methodology to solve problems on the production floor.
• Train employees in packaging skills and Standard Procedures.
• Evaluate work environment for safety issues and implement solutions.
• Facilitate communication between management, supervisors, the team, and cross-functional departments.
• Ensure proper allocation of data into Electronic Batch Records and completion of line clearance before each production run.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks like changing tapes, sleeves, and safety tabs.
• Conduct quality checks along production lines to ensure adherence to standards.
• Understand and interpret the production scheduling board to align activities with the schedule.
• Ensure cleanliness in assigned areas during shifts and at the end of shifts.
• Grow into a Team Leader level II by completing the lean certification class and providing daily coaching on lean manufacturing practices.
• Operate a pallet jack and perform weekly performance evaluations for employees.
• Oversee the On-The-Job Training certification program for new and existing staff members.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school education
• At least 1 year team lead experience or training in a production/manufacturing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication in English (typical eighth-grade level)
• Ability to clearly convey instructions, delegate tasks, and provide feedback
• Active listening skills to understand team member needs and concerns
• Ability to motivate, inspire, and guide team members towards achieving common goals
• Delegates tasks effectively and empowers team members to take ownership
• Provides constructive criticism and coaching to help team members develop their skills
• Identifies and solves problems effectively in situations with limited standardization
• Analyzes information and makes sound decisions to overcome challenges
• Works collaboratively with team members to find solutions
