Summary

Provide first level leadership in the department ensuring crews have sufficient tools and direction to achieve weekly results. Identify deficiencies and work with Supervisor to initiate corrective measures. Assist in training the workforce to maintain safety and quality standards.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily schedule attainment and make adjustments necessary to meet daily and weekly targets.
  • Communicate daily schedule to team members and ensure work rotations are followed.
  • Make first level decisions on movement of personnel, adjust schedules based on equipment constraints, enforce policy.
  • Act as the backup to the Production Supervisor, which includes leading staff meetings and attending department meetings when needed.
  • Act as the first point of contact for team members concerns and questions related to production and employee issues.
  • Motivate and engage team members across two departments and multiple rooms to achieve daily and weekly targets.
  • Resolve minor employee conflicts professionally and respectfully; escalate issues to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Train and guide Packaging/Prep Team Members through the onboarding process.
  • Complete JD Edwards system entry and product cycle counts.
  • Complete department specific tasks and paperwork.
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement and initiate actions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and elevate to maintenance if not able to resolve.
  • Report any and all injuries to the department supervisor at the time of injury.
  • May assist in completing the first report of injury with the team member.
  • Work on the line to pack & prep cheese on an as needed basis.
  • Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, Education And/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to motivate and engage team members to achieve results.
  • 1-2 years’ experience within manufacturing environment; food industry preferred.
  • Process flow knowledge of cheesemaking and packaging helpful.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Good computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Experience with ERP system, JDE preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with constructive discussions with both positive and negative situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure.
  • History of good attendance.
  • Good organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • May be required to work overtime if deemed necessary with occasional weekend work.
