General Description Of The Role
Campari Group is seeking a Packaging Supervisor at our Lawrenceburg, Kentucky home of Wild Turkey. This position oversees the safe, efficient, and quality bottling and packaging of various spirits.
Responsibilities And Activities
Must have the ability to multi-task in a high speed manufacturing environment.
Extensive short and long term planning expertise, problem solving skills, attention to detail and customer service orientation are essential functions of this role.
Physically navigate around a plant/production environment – including the climbing of stairs, elevated walkways etc.
Read and analyze available data.
Responsible for creating a high morale workplace with the highest ethical standards.
Visually inspect equipment and worker activities, etc., for compliance to SOPs and other safety standards.
Willingness to work independently on off-shifts, weekends and holidays.
Quality: Ensure all production of packages are managed in compliance with all SOP's to target quality outcomes.
This position will be responsible for strict adherence to bill of materials, process orders, and product structures with regard to the bottling and packaging of various materials.
Establish bottling line quality and consistency checks and measures.
Frequent audits to be conducted to ensure proper procedures are being followed and a quality product is being bottled and packaged.
Ensure compliance with TTB and all other regulatory requirements.
Comply with all GMP, ISO and food safety standards related to the packaging department.
Safety: In coordination with the site EH&S Manager, ensure all operations comply with GMP practices and site safety rules.
Ensure all employees are following prescribed PPE safety requirements for their assigned work area.
Implement and sustain 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain).
Immediately report and properly document any safety items related to you or any departmental employees.
Implement and sustain all relevant ISO and food safety standards.
Lead and/or participate in safety meetings as designated.
This position shall be required to address all safety related items in their department and lead any discussions surrounding safety.
Efficiency: Supervise the daily operations of the packaging area to ensure all KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) are met including OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
Provide overall leadership and direction for the packaging home area including the training and development of the packaging employees.
Work proactively and collaboratively with other Packaging department employees to ensure daily production demands are met.
Work proactively and collaboratively with the Maintenance department employees to correct issues and proactively drive continuous improvement objectives to meet or exceed target KPI's.
Schedule and assign line activities and personnel for the packaging department.
Ensure all records and packaging related documentation are accurately completed and stored per retention policy.
Provide information for and adhere to annual departmental operating budgets.
Implement continuous improvement actions to close gaps of KPI's, increase productivity, and minimize costs as needed.
Participate in Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) to solve problems by attempting to identify and correct the root causes of events, as opposed to simply addressing their symptoms.
Ensure basic maintenance practices are in place with the team to keep equipment operating at capacity and to prevent unscheduled down time.
This position shall be responsible for keeping the overall work area neat, clean and organized.
This position shall hold team members accountable for the general sanitation and housekeeping of the work area.
This position shall hold team members accountable for the safety, quality and performance levels established by the Plant Director, Packaging Director and Quality Department.
The packaging supervisor shall also maintain records for employees in the department such as attendance and performance evaluations.
This position shall be responsible for ensuring employee timecards are correct and submitted on time to payroll.
Provide coaching, feedback and training as appropriate to develop team capabilities, improve performance and/or onboard new employees.
Logistics: This position shall work with the scheduling department to ensure all daily, weekly and longer term schedules are met in an efficient manner.
Inventories levels shall be monitored and reported to the scheduling department on a regular basis.
Process orders will be created in SAP through the scheduling department. SAP will be the primary system used to schedule production and control inventories.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing or high-speed packaging operations environment. Minimum 3 years' experience in the direct supervision of people. Previous experience supervising within a union environment is a plus. Experience in beverage or beverage alcohol is a plus.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Working knowledge of packaging operations, preferably in the spirits category. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement projects/initiatives. Ability to effectively manage people, develop capabilities and continuously improve results. Familiarity with current GMP practices and a record of implementing SOPs to drive best-in-class packaging and efficiencies. Use of metrics and data to analyze performance, manage costs and improve results. Ability to work collaboratively across department lines at all levels in a plant operation — influencing effectively with management as well as line staff. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of TTB regulations, ISO requirements and Food Safety processes is a plus. Experience with SAP a plus.
