About the Role

Performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass-produce products such as preforms. The Machine Operator is responsible for completing the position training program, ensuring product quality, and maintaining equipment and work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Randomly checks parts produced every hour for defects (grease, flash, punctures, etc.) to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Monitors the flow of parts into assembling machinery, secondary equipment, and storage containers.
  • Tends machines, such as presses, according to machine (product) standards.
  • Works at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Packs good quality parts into boxes for sealing and shipping.
  • Completes daily reports of parts produced, scrap parts, and downtime.
  • Notifies supervisors of quality issues or machinery repairs needed.
  • Maintains housekeeping of work areas and equipment.
  • Makes process and parameter changes to ensure the highest quality possible.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent).
  • Common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, use hands and fingers, handle, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
  • Occasionally required to sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Close vision and color vision required.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud noise levels.
  • Must be GMP/HACCP/Food Security Trained.
