Job Summary

Medical Devices Company is seeking a Packaging Operator to join their team at Sparks, MD. The position is available on a 12-month contract basis, Monday through Thursday from 5:45 AM to 4:15 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the labeling, inspecting and packaging of final container products with manual and/or automated packaging systems.
  • Operates equipment that packages materials or products by inserting them into containers or filling containers from spouts or chutes.
  • May perform other packaging tasks including placing labels on packages, operating small production equipment, putting manuals into binders, counting and sorting various items, and forming or breaking down boxes for final product.
  • May also set-up, change-over and operate labeling and packaging equipment.
  • Responsible for data entry and imprinting computer generated labels.
  • May perform or assist in final check of completed documents for completeness and accuracy. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with packaging operations.
  • Responsible for packaging materials in accordance with standard manufacturing procedures (SMP) and standard operating procedures (SOP) including equipment set-up, equipment clean-up and documentation of such process.
  • Filling, assembling, labeling and inspecting under little/no supervision.
  • Maintains accuracy in weighing materials per the correct SMP and SOP weight tolerances.
  • Must be a good communicator within the manufacturing team to effectively define status of product or process between shifts either orally or with the use of written status reports.
  • Moves required materials from defined storage or staging areas to workspace using material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrates ability to set-up, operate and clean production equipment including weighing scales, hand-filling equipment, Integrated Fill Lines (IFL), bagging equipment and shrink-wrap equipment.
  • Maintains accurate production records, which include operation/cleaning logs, batch history records, label reconciliation, work order information and other pertinent data.
  • Uses independent judgment in troubleshooting and problem solving under little/no supervision.
  • Conducts minor equipment repairs and identifies and resolves equipment problems.
  • Provides support to lead and/or supervisor when necessary.
  • May provide training support for on-boarding and/or new procedures.
  • May provide support on special projects.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Follows all client housekeeping and safety policies and procedures.
  • Works overtime as required to meet client business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be clean shaven.
  • Must be comfortable wearing respirator.
  • Small percentage of workday may involve manual labor.

Skills

  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems.
  • Basic knowledge of GMP and SOPs.
  • Ability to set-up, operate, and clean production equipment.
  • Ability to weigh materials accurately.
